This will be Post 1 of a shellfish feast that I was lucky enough to be a part of (oysters and clams to be posted soon!).  Read on for the mussels steamed in a butter-wine sauce recipe (with artisan bread for dipping too!)
1 lb of fresh mussels
2 to 3 tbs of butter
1/2 cup of white wine
1 loaf of artisan bread

- Melt butter over medium heat.  Add white wine and enough water to cover the mussels.
- Rinse mussels off (if they are cracked, discard them).
- Place mussels in sauce over medium heat for 8 to 10 minutes until all are open (discard any mussels that do not open).
- Slice the bread and use for dipping into the delicious sauce while you enjoy the mussels!
